Meet our new children's minister

Dear Church Family:

With great pleasure we announce that Jennifer Precht has accepted our offer to become the Director of Children's Ministry at our church.  She will join our full-time staff on January 2nd.

Jennifer has previous experience as a Children's Minister at two United Methodist Churches and numerous experiences as a children's ministry volunteer in other churches.  She also has a deep background in Vacation Bible School organization and implementation, as well as Christian retreat and camp planning and operations.  Jennifer holds a bachelor's degree from Furman University and has done postgraduate work at the University of North Carolina.  She is a newly certified candidate for ordained ministry in the Alabama-West Florida Conference.  She will pursue this commitment though distance learning opportunities over the coming years while leading the Children's Ministry at Point Washington UMC.

Jennifer is married to the Reverend Michael Precht, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Crestview, Florida.  Jennifer and Michael have the blessing of being parents to Laken, Elsa, Evelyn, and Ian.

The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) advertised this position extensively and received seven extraordinary applications.  Our committee conducted reviews which led to a thorough face-to-face interview with Jennifer.  The SPRC was unanimously impressed with Jennifer and asked Pastor Amy to extend the offer of employment.  Jennifer took some time to think, pray, and reflect before enthusiastically accepting the position.  In her letter of application, she wrote the following:  "I am passionate about Christ and about sharing his love and desire for relationship with all!  Teaching the stories of the Bible to all ages is exciting and life-giving to me, and my experience teaching and discussing scripture with children has brought me great joy.  Nothing would give me more joy than to share the love, joy, and promise of God with the children of Point Washington."

Please continue to pray for the Children's Ministry at our church as we look forward to having Jennifer Precht join us early in January.

CHILDREN's ministry

"Train up a child in the way "they" should go. Even when "they " are old "they" will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6, NASB95 "

...Jesus said, "Let the little children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14, NASB95

"I am writing you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake." 1 John 2:12, NASB95

At Point Washington United Methodist Church we believe as the Scripture teaches, our children can impact our community and the world for God

When we begin, at home, with loving parents teaching the Word of God, the support of the church family amplifies the parents efforts and brings about a fulfillment of Proverbs 22.

We have seen the fruit of the efforts of our teachers to build the heart of the Scriptures into the children God has entrusted to this gathering of His people. We instill kindness, service, and gratitude in all the children we interact with.

There are many wonderful opportunities for children and their parents at PWUMC. Join us.

All of our children's workers have undergone a through background check. If you would like to serve in children's ministry talk with Reverend Amy. Then check with the office about how to get your background check. The number is 850-231-4928.
