Dear Church Family,

On behalf of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, we are happy to announce that Emilee Ogden has accepted our Director of Children’s Ministry position! We plan for her to join our staff full-time on October 1, 2019.

Emilee is moving to our area from Dallas, Texas. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Childhood Ministry from Dallas Baptist University, and Emilee has served in various children’s and worship ministry roles for the past 14 years. Her most recent positions were at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas. In addition, Emilee has served on staff with The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas.  Her passion for ministry encompasses cultivating meaningful relationships with children and their families, teaching, and writing curriculum.  She loves to help children, and others, develop a loving and thriving relationship with Jesus.

Emilee enjoys writing, playing French horn, and watching or participating in musical theatre. She loves the Texas Rangers and listens to Broadway soundtracks too loudly in the car, and will NEVER say “no” to chips and queso OR Disney World. Emilee is lively, engaging, and has a quick wit. Our interview committee and staff were won over by her passion for children’s ministry and her fun personality. Emilee looks forward to building relationships with the children of Point Washington UMC and their families and to exploring the beauty of our beaches!

In her application, Emilee wrote, “I believe that it is the church’s role to come alongside families and support and guide them as they navigate life; when I serve in children’s ministry, I go all in. I believe in becoming an active part of the community at large – not just the church – so that the church becomes a place where all feel welcome.”

As we prepare to receive Emilee as our new Director of Children’s Ministry, I invite you to pray for her as she works to find a new home and moves to our area. If you have ideas about possible housing for Emilee in our area or if you would like to contribute to a fund at the church which will be designated to reimburse moving expenses, please reach out to me ( or to our Business Manager Amy Shell (

What a joy to be part of this wonderful congregation at Point Washington UMC! May God’s blessing be on Emilee as she comes to serve and lead, on our Children’s Ministry as we continue to reach children with the love of God, and on our whole congregation as we seek to be faithful to our mission To Know Christ, To Love Christ, To Make the Love of Christ Known!

Grace and Peace,

Rev. Amy Persons, Senior Pastor

CHILDREN's ministry

"Train up a child in the way "they" should go. Even when "they " are old "they" will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6, NASB95 "

...Jesus said, "Let the little children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14, NASB95

"I am writing you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake." 1 John 2:12, NASB95

At Point Washington United Methodist Church we believe as the Scripture teaches, our children can impact our community and the world for God

When we begin, at home, with loving parents teaching the Word of God, the support of the church family amplifies the parents efforts and brings about a fulfillment of Proverbs 22.

We have seen the fruit of the efforts of our teachers to build the heart of the Scriptures into the children God has entrusted to this gathering of His people. We instill kindness, service, and gratitude in all the children we interact with.

There are many wonderful opportunities for children and their parents at PWUMC. Join us.

All of our children's workers have undergone a through background check. If you would like to serve in children's ministry talk with Reverend Amy. Then check with the office about how to get your background check. The number is 850-231-4928.
